Term loan

Term loan

One amount, paid back on a calendar schedule. For a planned spend with a payoff date, not a daily cash scramble.

What it is

One amount with fixed or scheduled payments and a stated term. You can put the payments on a calendar. Term and total payback are on the agreement.

When it fits

Expansion, a refinance of a short facility, a project with a payoff date, a spend you can plan around.

It is a poor fit for an emergency payroll week if a scheduled product will not clear in time. Speed and paperwork trade off, and pretending otherwise costs money. A need that comes and goes belongs on a line of credit.

What we need to start

Use of funds, the amount, and statements. Tax returns if the file heads toward a bank or SBA shape.

What happens next

Submit one application. We package the file and send it to lenders that buy this kind of paper. Options appear in your account when they exist. Sometimes more than one, sometimes none. You compare terms there, pick an option if you want one, and still review that lender's agreement before you sign.

FAQ

Questions about this product

Site-wide answers live on the FAQ page.

How is this different from SBA?

SBA has a government-backed program in the structure. It usually means more documents, more parties, and a slower clock. A term loan can move faster with less paper.

How is this different from working capital?

Working capital is for the cash the business already runs on, often on a shorter clock. A term loan is for a planned spend on a longer schedule.

How is this different from an MCA?

An MCA is not a loan. A lender purchases a portion of future sales and collects from receipts. A term loan is one amount with a stated schedule and usually costs less.

Can I pay it off early?

Only on the terms in the agreement. Some allow it cleanly, some do not. Read that section before you sign.
